Things to note when taking an escalator
When riding an escalator, to ensure passenger safety, please pay attention to the following points:
1.Confirm the escalator's direction:
Before stepping onto the escalator, please confirm its direction to avoid stepping in the wrong way.
2.Dress safely:
Wear shoes with tightly tied shoelaces to prevent loose shoelaces from getting caught in the escalator. Also, avoid wearing loose or trailing clothing such as long skirts or dresses to prevent them from getting caught on the edge of the steps, comb plates, skirt boards, or inner cover plates.
3.Ride in an orderly manner:
At the entrance to the escalator or moving walkway, please ride in order and avoid pushing or shoving. Special attention should be paid when elderly individuals, children, or those with weak vision are riding together to avoid injuries caused by crowding.
4.Watch your step:
When stepping onto the escalator, please stand within the yellow safety warning border on the step and keep your feet away from the edges. Do not step on the junction between two steps to avoid falling due to the height difference between the steps when they reach the inclined section.
5.Hold the handrail:
When riding the escalator, please face the direction of movement, hold the handrail tightly with one hand to prevent falling due to unexpected situations such as emergency stops or being pushed by others. Do not place handbags or small bags on the handrail or use the bristles on the sides of the escalator to clean your shoes.
6.Mind your behavior:
Climbing, playing, or sitting on the escalator steps is prohibited. Avoid looking down at your phone or stopping at the exit to prevent congestion, falling, or injuries. Also, do not extend your head or limbs beyond the handrail to avoid collisions with obstacles, ceilings, or adjacent escalators, which could result in personal injury accidents.
7.Accompany the elderly and children:
Elderly individuals and children should ride the escalator under the accompaniment and support of healthy adults, and the adult should not let go during the process. Pay attention to whether the child is holding anything to prevent accidents caused by the child suddenly bending down to pick something up if they drop it.
8.Prohibition of carrying special items:
It is strictly prohibited to carry crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, baby strollers, shopping carts, large items, or ordinary trolleys on the escalator to prevent the items from losing balance and rolling off, which could cause injury to other passengers or damage to the equipment.
9.Emergency response:
In case of an emergency during escalator operation (such as a passenger falling or a shoe getting stuck), immediately call the attendant located at the entrance or exit of the escalator or press the red emergency stop button to prevent greater harm. However, please note that the emergency stop button should not be abused unless necessary to avoid causing other passengers to fall and get injured.
By following these safety precautions, passengers can ensure their safety when riding the escalator. Meanwhile, passengers should always remain vigilant, observe their surroundings, and ensure their own safety.
