A floor door, also known as a hall door, is a closed door located at the entrance of an elevator floor station. It is fixed at the elevator shaft entrance and does not move with the elevator. It remains closed until the elevator reaches the floor and needs to be opened.

The main function of the floor door is to prevent people and items from falling into the shaft before the elevator reaches the floor, and also to prevent objects in the shaft from colliding with people or items on the floor.

It has special construction and requirements. Floor doors are generally composed of doors, guide rails, pulleys, sliders, door frames, sills, and other components. The landing door should be a non perforated door with a clear height of no less than 2 meters to ensure the safety of passengers and items.

The gaps between the door leaves and between the door leaves and the columns, lintels, and sills should be minimized as much as possible to reduce potential safety hazards.

Each floor door is equipped with a door lock, and the mechanical locking hook of the door lock engages after the floor door is closed. At the same time, the electrical interlocking contact between the floor door and the car door is closed, and the elevator control circuit is connected. Only then can the elevator start running. The landing door has a self closing device. When the driving force for opening and closing the car door is lost, the landing door can automatically close under the spring force of the self closing device or the gravity of the heavy hammer.
